The dumpster was a terrifying creature that lived inside of John Crichton's mind, where it constantly preyed upon Harvey on Crichton's orders. It only appeared twice, but it devoured Harvey the first time and attempted to the second, releasing a blood-curdling growl as it did so. Harvey lived in fear of the dumpster, even after Crichton called it off, and glanced nervously about when reminded of its existence. ("Promises")
