The Ritual of Passing was a ritual used by Luxan Oricans when they were about to die. An emotional and spiritual link was forged between the Orican and her attendant, who must be of Luxan descent. As the Orican died, the attendant sanctified the ascent by transferring energy to her. This is a risky ritual to participate in; should the attendant give up too much energy or the Orican take too much, then the attendant would die in addition to the Orican. This danger, along with the sacred status of all Oricans, made participation in the Ritual of Passing the highest honor that could be bestowed upon any Luxan.
