The Skeksis were creatures from an Earth movie called The Dark Crystal.
The Halosians looked similar to Skeksis, and John Crichton mentioned them in this context at least twice after his encounter with them, the first time on Kanvia[1] and then again a few years later on the Commerce Planet.[2]
Background information[]
The Halosians' resemblance to the Skeksis is no coincidence; it was an intentional "cheeky nod" on the part of Dave Elsey.[3] The frameworks of the Skeksis puppets may have been repurposed for the Halosian puppets, but when asked about it in one of SciFi.com's webchats, Sean Masterson only gave a vague wink, saying they were "distant cousins."[4]
